The Strain
Wow! What a wild ride. I really enjoyed this one. I gave it 4 stars because the beginning was a bit dull. I'm glad I stuck with it because once the horror begins, it is awesome. I rarely get creeped out by horror books any more, but this one gave me the chills. These are no beautiful, sexy vampires. Think Blade 3 (or was it 2?) vampire mutants and all of the horror that goes with it. Throw in some Salem's Lot suspense and you have the makings of a good scary book. This would make a great movie! I just hope if they do a movie, they do a trilogy and don't try to cram it all into one. I liked all of the characters, especially the exterminator. A couple of things bugged me. I can't see the CDC letting quarantined people go especially if they are feeling sick. Why wouldn't Eph and Nora show more people the captain's body after he attacks everyone? So, suspend some disbelief and sit back and enjoy the ride. On to book # 2.
